Ditch or Keep in 2017?!

2017 will be here before we know it!! Hard to believe it is already December! BRIDES recently chatted with David Tutera who is an amazing Celebrity wedding planner and he weighed in on what should be staying and what should be going for our 2017 couples!! Do you agree or disagree? What do you think will be trending in 2017??

While many couples have an after party after the party, David says the party should stay put! Keep the vibes up and keep the party going at the same location! You can keep the party up too with bringing in special late night bites or sweet treats!! You can even make them to go for your guests to keep them talking!

With regards to colors and textures David had mentioned a mix of whites and metallics! The golds and silvers are out and the softer mix of color and metallic will give you a refreshing feel that is still hip and on trend!! Try using these as a mix with your chairs up to your lighting and extra decor details!

Receiving line no more! This 2016 we were seeing less and less receiving lines as couples feel that it is too formal and would like to be able to use cocktail hour and see everyone in a more casual environment! David is on the same page with us and definitely thinks it is a trend to lose this season!

One thing to keep for sure are first looks! These are here to stay! A perfect way to enjoy that intimate moment and capture those photos that are ones to cherish for a life time!!

The last trend that we totally think is here to stay are the DIY unique special touches that our couples find to incorporate into their wedding! Wether it be including something that is special just between your spouse and you or if it is something special to give to your guests as way to never forget your wedding! We had a couple this year give our guests homemade moonshine that was made by them and we also had another couple use a SMORE’s bar for their guests to enjoy rather than having a wedding cake! Just be you. Make it special. And you will be sure to have the time of your life!

Four Legs, Fur, and a Bow tie.

Sadly, it’s not possible to have your pet magically become the justice of the peace to marry you and your hubby on your wedding day, but what you can do is incorporate your furry bundle of joy in some creative fun ways!

First, having your pet walk you up and down the isle!

Now this is an adorable way to show off your love for your animal. Dress them up in a little tux, bow tie, or flowers to flaunt their style! You obviously want to share your day between your two favorite people, your pet being number one and your groom being number two, right?

Second, you can always have your pet join in on the fun by becoming the ring bearer or flower girl!

FYI, you might not want to leave this job all to your four legged friend because they may take off on you if they spot a squirrel or a leaf.

Third, why not have your pet become a groomsman or bridesmaid?!

The more the merrier! Throw some flowers on your pal and get them in line!

Fourth and lastly, grab your groom and your pet and go take the most memorable pictures one could ever have!

At the end of the day your wedding is supposed to have all of your loved ones there to celebrate, so it looks like bringing your pet might be the most wonderful idea out there!

Wedding Vendor Wednesday | Party Pyro | CT’s Premiere Wedding and Event Planners Always and Forever, LLC

Would you like to have that fairytale wedding just like Cinderella with all the fireworks? Well, now you can. Imagine, just as your officiant pronounces you as husband and wife and you kiss for the very first time, a flurry of sparklers ignite and create a majestic background. Or perhaps you are enjoying your first dance and at the very end as your husband dips you and goes in for a kiss a splash of sparklers fill the windows with an array of excitement. Another romantic idea is doing a sky lantern release. Gather your bridal party and have each of them hold a sky lantern. Once it is lit and filled with hot air, have everyone release it into to sky. It makes for emotional and colorful photos. How about having every centerpiece ignite with sparklers at the exact same time just as the bride and groom are introduced into the ballroom? What a way to surprise everyone. Of course nothing is more exciting than a full fireworks display in the sky.  Everyone loves fireworks and is watched more by more people on the 4th of July than any other single event throughout the year. Now you can have that incredible moment during your wedding.  These are just a few examples of ways to make your wedding special and to create a moment that your guests will talk about years down the road.

It’s Good To Always Have A Plan | Connecticut’s Premiere Wedding and Event Planners, Always and Forever, LLC

It was just about 9 years ago when I decided to create Always and Forever, LLC.  Having done event planning for years for corporate clients and non-profit organizations, it seemed only natural to make the leap into weddings.  While they may seem completely different, they are pretty similar.  There is always a customer (bride/groom), always a venue, menu choices, hotel concerns, décor needed, and day-of logistics.

Nine years and two kids later, I use my planner knowledge to throw some pretty amazing birthday parties for my kids.  My son’s first birthday was an army inspired party complete with matching family camouflage gear, a face-painting station with none other than camo, an army tank cake that my husband and I created, and an army tank piñata with close to 125 guests!  Guests really got into it showing up in full-camo gear, and that one year old boy sure loved that tank cake.

A few years later it was time for my daughter’s Diva themed 1st birthday party….perfect for her little attitude.  Zebra goodie bags filled with rock star sunglasses, lip gloss, bling rings, and , of course,  hot pink and black feather boas.  She embraced her inner diva that day…and has done so ever since!

As the kids get older, the parties have been combined.  There was Sponge Bob with a homemade Krabby Patty Cake, jellyfish scavenger hunt and handrawn art. Then the Circus party with carnival games, face painters, cotton candy, snowcones and “popcorn” cupcakes.

Fast forward to this year……..the theme will be Slither and Swim!!  After several years of my daughter begging for a princess party, I had to give in.  Little does she know that “Ariel” will arrive with The Little Mermaid music, singing a song, telling stories and posing for photos (to me the best part).  And then there is Slither! We have hired an amazing animal entertainer who has assured me every child (who wants to ) will be able to touch the snakes, lizards and hopefully a baby alligator (my favorite).  Now I get to plan all the little details…that is what I like, the details. The little things that make an ordinary birthday party, extraordinary.

It is good to have a plan…and I am never without one!

Meet Elizabeth and Jamie a 2013 Couple | CT’s Premiere Wedding Planners and Coordinators

I first met Elizabeth and Jamie back in September 2011, they were flying in from London and were hoping to hire a wedding planner and choose a reception and ceremony venue all within one week!  I was so excited to meet with them, it was a dreary day and we met at a Starbucks.  I loved them instantly, between Elizabeth’s super sweet nature and Jamie’s rocking Scottish accent, I knew it was a perfect fit.

Listening to them talk about how they met and when they got engaged, I could feel so much love between the two and I knew that I wanted to make their wedding planning perfect and easy.  One of the tricky things was they were not planning to be back until Mary of 2013, a week before their wedding!  Planning from London was never going to be a challenge, thank God for Skype!  After meeting for about two hours we parted ways as they were going to check out some potential venues.  They promised to get back to me before they left.

I was so excited to see their email when the next day saying they wanted to hire me!  I quickly did a contract and met them a day later at the same very Starbucks.  We talked about their venue choices, budget and potential number of guests.  Luckily they had enough time to narrow down their venue choices to two, the Inn at Longshore and Mystic Seaport (two amazing locations)!  I was so excited , loving both those venues, and I knew whichever one they chose would be perfect for their New England inspired theme with Scottish components woven in.

So, they left two days later, and we’ve been skyping every two weeks since!  I’ve been busy visiting venues, working on budgets, securing contracts, scheduling Skype sessions for entertainment, florists, and a potential justice of the peace.

So, I know the suspense is killing you… Jamie and Elizabeth chose the Inn at Longshore, perfect for a Memorial Day weekend in 2013.  With the majority of the guests coming from overseas, Westport offers the perfect location for their destination wedding.  So far we’ve ordered save-the-dates, chosen bridesmaid dresses, secured the venue, started a preliminary wedding day timeline, spoken with a DJ, florist and created an inspiration board.  We are so looking forward to their big day next year, and are recently excited to learn they are hoping to come back this November to meet with some more vendors!!

Here’s to the happy couple!
